The Many Seductive Charms Of Milan

This is our third day in Milan and, as you can imagine from our jottings and our photos, the city charms you with a quiet seductiveness.
This is not a brash nor boastful city. It doesn’t feel that it has anything to prove.
Rather, it envelops you with a gracefulness and a sense of worldly beauty.
Still, amidst all the worldliness, there are cozy neighborhoods and sections of the city with their own unique character — a personality as distinct as northern Italy is from southern Italy.
Drawbacks? Well, as far as we can tell, the city could use more public parks and street corner benches where you could rest your weary bones. But this is a wonderfully walkable city and the Milanese always seem to be going somewhere and often on foot. So, the whole town seems to be on the move pretty much from dawn to dusk and even beyond that as Italians are famous for their promenades in the piazza.
It being a big city you will find some street people and beggars but not nearly as many as you will encounter in Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York or the den of depravity known as San Francisco. In fact, Milan, in many ways, puts all of those cities to shame.
There’s a sense of gracious confidence to this place that is increasingly rare in a city of this size and magnitude.
And that practically seems to invite amore as the street scene below shows.
