Most Don't See Christie As GOP Nominee

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced his 2024 presidential candidacy this month, but at this time few voters – especially among Republicans – see him as having a chance at becoming the GOP nominee.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 20% of likely U.S. voters believe Christie is likely to end up being the Republican presidential nominee in 2024, including just six percent (6%) who see his nomination as very likely. Seventy-one percent (71%) don’t think it’s likely Christie will get the GOP nomination next year, including 39% who say it is not at all likely. While those numbers are the worst measured so far for any 2024 Republican presidential candidate, it is early yet and politics is notoriously unpredictable.  (To see survey question wording, click here.)
