Yesterday, Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia, and Most Reverend James V. Johnston, Jr., Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph, announced a friendly wager in anticipation of the Super Bowl LVII matchup featuring the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.

If the Chiefs win, Archbishop Pérez will make a $500 donation to Catholic Charities Kansas City-St. Joseph, which provides a broad spectrum of social service care to thousands of needy individuals and families in northwest Missouri.

With an Eagles victory, Bishop Johnson will make a $500 donation to the Catholic Charities Appeal, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s single largest annual fundraising initiative that benefits hundreds of thousands of people through countless charitable service organizations and ministries throughout the five-county region.
