New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno has expressed her gratitude to global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald for pledging to adopt families from four New Jersey schools and donating $1,000 gift cards to 481 families with a child in Union Beach’s Memorial School.
“The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund provides us with another opportunity to help relieve the burden and devastating impact Superstorm Sandy inflicted on local families,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno. “Our residents are working tirelessly to rebuild their lives and those of their neighbors. On behalf of the State of New Jersey, I would like to thank the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund for their generous pledge to help the people of the Garden State.”
In addition to Union Beach’s Memorial School in Union Beach, Cantor Fitzgerald has adopted Keansburg’s Port Monmouth Road School, Joseph C. Caruso School, and Joseph R. Bolger Middle School.
The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund has adopted a total of 19 elementary schools in New Jersey, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and Staten Island and donated a combined $10 million dollars to families with children in these schools. They will be distributing the money through $1,000 Payoneer ® prepaid debit cards, with one going to each family from the selected schools, beginning January 10th and extending through early March.
“There is commitment on the part of the leadership and employees of Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund to be philanthropic in the face of tragedy. We have taken the lessons gleaned from assisting our 9/11 community and applied it to families impacted by Hurricane Sandy, providing them with direct financial assistance. We are grateful for the opportunity to assist the families in Union Beach, New Jersey and others surrounding communities, and hope to help them heal during this challenging time,” said Edie Lutnick, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund.
The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting victims of terrorism, natural disasters and emergencies. In the immediate aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Cantor Fitzgerald offered emergency financial aid of up to $1,000 to each of Cantor and BGC employees who suffered losses beyond those covered by insurance.
