Stimulating Ideas For You Mind -- And Soul!

The School of Theological Studies at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary is pleased to announce the 2016-2017 Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary Lecture Series. This series encompasses the Archbishop’s Lecture Series, the Theology Lecture Series, the Philosophy Lecture Series, and the Cardinal Foley Lecture Series. It is an opportunity to come to a deeper understanding of the Catholic faith, its authentic content, and its orientation toward the transformation of the world around us.

All lectures are free, open to the public, and will take place at:

Presenter: Gregory Erlandson
Topic: The Power of the Word--Catholic News Media and Spiritual Formation

Background on Presenter
Gregory Erlandson is the director and Editor-in-Chief of Catholic News Service (CNS), the oldest and largest English-language religious news organization in the world.

He served as president of Our Sunday Visitor Publishing (OSV) for 16 years, beginning his career there in 1989 as an editor. He was promoted to Editor-in-Chief in 1991 and named President in 2000. He began his career at National Catholic Register before spending three years as a foreign correspondent for CNS's Rome bureau.

Erlandson was appointed twice as a consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Communications, and served as a consultor for the Holy See's Pontifical Council for Social Communications. He also was a member of the Vatican Media Committee that eventually led to the creation of the Holy See's new Secretariat for Communications.

Erlandson graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in English literature, and attended U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
