Celebrating A Rich History And Varied Heritage . . .

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will be the principal celebrant and homilist at the 20th Annual Cultural Heritage Mass. The Liturgy will feature participation from groups representing approximately 29 different national, ethnic, and/or Eastern Catholic Church traditions.

This Mass highlights the rich history and cultural diversity of the Catholic community in the five-county Archdiocese, which is comprised of people who trace their origins to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, Brazilian and Native American communities.

Several participants will dress in native attire and process in the opening procession behind banners that display their country of origin. Additionally, 7 choirs will provide multilingual music throughout the Mass. Scripture readings and prayers will be proclaimed in eight different languages including Malayalam, Tagalog, Swahili, Korean, Mende, Gaelic, Indonesian, and Portuguese. Including English, 14 different languages will be spoken or sung at the Cultural Heritage Mass this year.

All are welcome to attend the Cultural Heritage Mass .
