GOP Legislator: Parents Must Not Be Ignored!

New Jersey State Senator Michael Doherty said parents pushed back hard in yesterday’s elections against Democrats who have repeatedly imposed controversial pandemic policies and curriculum changes over their vocal concerns.

“Outraged parents sent Democrats a message yesterday that they won’t be ignored,” said Doherty (R-23). “I truly hope this marks the beginning of the end of the uncontested liberal takeover of education in many places.”

Doherty pointed to unpopular emergency executive orders by Governor Murphy coupled with concerns about how local school districts implemented and enforced mask mandates and other pandemic restrictions and policies.

“Parents clearly want a say in mask and vaccine decisions that impact their children,” said Doherty. “They want more choice, not more mandates. They want public debate on these issues to be held before elected bodies. The voters have rejected the implementation of executive orders in the dark of night without their input.”

Doherty also said it’s clear that voters turned out yesterday in a repudiation of Democrat attempts to hijack school curricula to incorporate liberal ideologies.

“Parents have a real problem with the escalating attempts by progressives to indoctrinate very young students in sexually explicit practices that conflict with their family values,” added Doherty. “They showed they won’t sit back and allow themselves to be derided without consequence by those on the far left who think they know what’s best for everyone else’s children.”
