A Phony Scheme From A Self-Promoting Yapper!

From our friends at the Save Jersey blog:
By Matt Rooney (reprinted with permission)

Honest disagreements are okay. Scams are something else altogether.
You probably know that the Trump Administration has considered opening federal Atlantic waters to gas and oil exploration. It’s been all over the news.
Proposed exploration territories are 3 to 200 miles away from the coast. In recent years, a 50-mile buffer was discussed.
On Friday? In honor of Earth Day?
Our Governor Phil Murphy signed off on a law prohibiting drilling in any state waters which are within three miles of the shoreline.
That means Murphy’s new law accomplishes… nothing, Save Jerseyans. Nothing at all. At least nothing other than yet another symbolic snub to President Trump. It’s a #nothingburger.
It addresses only portions of the coast where no one is trying to drill.

In case you missed it, back in January, I gave you five (5) reasons why offshore drilling is a very good thing for New Jersey. For example, you wouldn’t be able to see anything from the shoreline. Standing atop of 100 foot structure? Like a hotel or condo complex? The horizon rests at a distance of approximately 12.2 miles. Only superhuman eyesight could spot a rig!
So if you still disagree with my facts-based support for offshore drilling? Fair enough. You’re entitled to your opinion.
My only request is that you think long and hard about whether our governor is actually interested in furthering your cause or, more realistically, is picking easy issues and low-hanging fruit with an eye on bigger political prizes.
That’s doubly true when the governor in question furthers his ambitions by focusing nearly exclusively on people who aren’t even here legally and paying property taxes.
