Very interesting. I'm not sure the circumstances of either meeting, but from what I see, one had the backing of the marines while the other was formal and seemed to be above the status of the Marines. Now again, maybe he was directed not to meet personally with the grunts after the speech but it's still strange. Why not???
Sean: I'm not familiar with the circumstances of each apperance. But I believe that what we're seeing more and more is this: The President is socially awkward. He's not really comfortable in live, face-to-face social settings and social encounters. As has been said so often: He doesn't seem like the kind of guy you'd want to have a beer with; not someone you'd want to be in a foxhole with either; not someone you'd want as a buddy. He's elusive and vaguely distant. He makes clumsy jokes and often laughs at the wrong things and at the wrong times. On top of everything else he often seems hopelessly geeky. There's a disconnect here. It's usettling.
