Catholic Colleges? Find The Best Ones Here!

A special message from the Cardinal Newman Society:

Happy Solemnity of All Saints!

Today's a great day to visit our newly updated (and free online!) resource for choosing a Catholic college at TheNewmanGuide.com.  The fine institutions we recommend are helping the next generation to become saints!  Please pray that more Catholic colleges will follow their lead.

Now for a tale of two colleges.  We usually know what to expect from mainstream media reports about the Church, but a recent PBS segment contrasting Ave Maria University and Georgetown University came as a surprise!

toweyThe show focused partly on a "coming out" event at Georgetown, but included one student's lament that the university "remains silent" about the Church's teaching regarding human sexuality.  Ave Maria president Jim Towey said of his university, "What's needed now is a Catholicism rooted in scripture, sacramental in nature, that's open to engagement with the world without losing its own identity."  Bravo to President Towey for his wonderful example of faithful education.

Across the country, other faithful Catholic colleges continue to set a wonderful example.  Consider the "New Evangelization" conference at Franciscan University; the generous contribution of alumni to the University of Dallas; and the high quality academics and affordability at many faithful colleges.  And Daniel McInerny wrote an excellent piece comparing Georgetown and Notre Dame to faithful Benedictine College.  We are so thankful that families have many excellent Catholic colleges to choose from!

Yours in Christ,
adam
