They're Ready For Pi Day, Are YOU?

Saint Elizabeth School will hold its 12th Annual Pi Day in celebration of Mathematics. Students in grades Kindergarten-eight will participate in school-wide afternoon activities culminating with an end of day assembly and pie eating contest between teachers and students.

Thursday, March 14, 2019
 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
 Saint Elizabeth Parish School (Gymnasium)
 120 Saint Elizabeth Drive
 Chester Springs, PA 19425

In addition to the pie eating contest, students in grades Kindergarten-fourth will complete classroom activities related to Pi/circles. Children in grades fifth-eighth grade will move through three different activity stations including a Pi related activity in the gymnasium, a song related to the mathematical symbol in music, and a Math lesson on “why we use Pi.”

Fifth-eighth graders will then take part in a fourth station in the social hall where they can taste a piece of homemade pie made by their classmates. In the past pies have been made in a variety of flavors, including pizza. Leftover pies will be donated to those in need. During the pie eating contest students who have memorized 50 or more digits will be recognized for their achievement.

Pi Day is a global celebration of Mathematics celebrated on March 14th, each year. Pi (π) is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter or rounded down 3.14.
