Kurt Elling: PassionWorld
Sunday, October 5, 2014  •  7:30pm  •  Perelman Theater
One of the world’s foremost jazz vocalists, Kurt Elling’s singing is at once edgy and warm, daring and lyrical. PassionWorld explores the language of love through ballads of love and loss—from Frank Sinatra's “Come Fly with Me” to the quintessentially French “La Vie en Rose.”
Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
with Wynton Marsalis
Sunday, December 21, 2014  •  8pm  •  Verizon Hall
In a special holiday program, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis performs instrumental arrangements from Swing-era greats Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bennie Goodman, and Tommy Dorsey—joined by the sensational young vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant.
Maceo Parker
Saturday, January 17, 2015  •  8pm  •  Merriam Theater
In a five-decade career, saxophonist Maceo Parker has stretched the potential of his instrument to unprecedented limits. Parker’s chops are as tight and precise today as they were during his highly charged early days, and his creative audacity is equally undiminished.
Irvin Mayfield and the
New Orleans Jazz Orchestra
Tuesday, February 17, 2015  •  8pm  •  Verizon Hall
Join us for an unforgettable Mardi Gras celebration as the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra makes its Philadelphia debut. Led by Artistic Director Irvin Mayfield, NOJO was founded as a powerful vehicle for advancing the cultural legacy of New Orleans Jazz. Travel to the Big Easy in a musical evening smoking with "blistering Creole fire" (Omaha World Herald).
Jason Moran and the Bandwagon
Sunday, March 29, 2015  •  7:30pm  •  Perelman Theater
Since emerging on the scene in the late '90s, jazz pianist Jason Moran has established himself as a risk-taker and innovator in almost every category that matters—improvisation, composition, group concept, repertoire, technique, and experimentation.
