A Toast To 'A Very Special Relationship' . . .

“President Trump attended a state banquet on Monday hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, where the two leaders hailed the historic importance of their countries' relationship,” Brett Samuels reports in The Hill.

In a toast to the Queen, the President described Her Majesty as a “constant symbol” of our shared values and spoke about the upcoming 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion this Thursday. Queen Elizabeth said that “tonight, we celebrate an alliance that has helped to ensure the safety and prosperity of both our peoples for decades, and which I believe will endure for many years to come.”

Yesterday, the President and First Lady were presented special gifts by Queen Elizabeth II during their visit to Buckingham Palace, Natalie Musumeci reports for the New York Post. President Trump received “an abridged first edition of Winston Churchill’s book on World War II.” The First Lady was given “a ‘specially commissioned silver box’ with a ‘handcrafted enamel lid’ that was designed to match the ceiling of Buckingham Palace’s music room.” 
“President Trump has given the Duke of Edinburgh a personalised Air Force One jacket as a special gift in honour of the UK state visit. The famous jackets are traditionally worn by US presidents when travelling by air,” Olivia Petter writes in The Independent. “It’s an apt gift for Prince Philip, who became a pilot for the Royal Air Force in 1952.” 
“The Border Patrol is seeing an increase in migrants from African countries who are blending in with the large numbers crossing the southern border illegally through Central America,” Fred Lucas reports in The Daily Signal. Agents at the Del Rio, Texas sector “apprehended 116 individuals last week from African countries as they crossed the border from Mexico.” 
Yesterday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) “announced that full funding has been secured to complete the project to elevate the Tamiami Trail. The U.S. Department of Transportation has matched the state of Florida’s $40 million for the Tamiami Trail by awarding an additional $60 million,” the Keys Weekly reports. “I thank President Trump and his administration, including Secretary Elaine Chao, for yet again proving their dedication to the people of Florida as we work to restore our water quality and protect our environment,” Gov. DeSantis said.
