Kennedys: 'No Soul'

Our friend Gayle Michael writes:
Can someone explain to me how the Kennedy's--and inparticular Caroline and Ted can support and endorse Obama when he (Obama) is friends with Ayers.
I was astounded to learn that Ayers dedicated one of his books to Sirhan Sirhan, Bobby Kennedy's killer.
This is beyond me--did I miss something?
Shame on Caroline and Ted Kennedy.
Clearly, they have no soul.

I find it crass when people try to speculate as to how a family should act or think after a tragedy.
Maybe they believe in Obama's vision.
Maybe they don't belive the BS peddled by people who know nothing of personal family tragedy, and speculate from the sidelines.
This kind of crap has come to light throughout the election; and it's this kind of crap that has lost McCain the election.

I agree with Draco. The Kennedy's support of Obama is based on what he stands for not based on who he has crossed paths with in his life.

Draco: Your reference as to what "has lost McCain the election" puzzles me. Did I miss something? Is the election over?
I thought I turned my clock back on Saturday night, not forward.
Ryan: Still, Ayers DID dedicate a book to Sirhan and Ayers and Obama have been linked many, many times and DO seem to have a connection. I'm not sure I'd be able to support somebody who was friends with someone who supported and dedicated a book to the man who murdered my brother.
But then again the Kennedys claim to be Catholic while supporting abortion on demand.
They seem to be full of contradictions.

First: most American Catholics support abortion...do the research on that one.
Secondly: You say Obama and Ayers have been linked many times, what other times besides serving on a committee and appearing together at one of Obama's early fund raisers are you referencing?

Here is my source:

46% of American Catholics support abortion...almost half. Are all those Catholics full of contradictions?

Ryan:
Those Catholics who say they support abortion are not Catholics. Check my previous posts on this subject.
You can't call yourself a Catholic and support abortion. Brush up on the teachings of the church.
Abortion is not something subject to a majority vote. It's right or wrong. The Church says it's worng.
You also need to check my previous posts on the connections between Ayers and Obama: Served together on Woods Board, served on academic panel together, both linked to ACORN, Obama blurbed Ayers' book, Ayers contributed to Obama's campaigns, Obama launced his political career in Ayers' home, both academics who live in the same neighborhood and share many of the same friends, Ayers and wife reportedly babysat Obama girls.
Hey even ONE link to Ayers is bad enough, Ryan.
C'mon!

First: I'm glad to see you are such an authority on what makes a good Catholic, when can we expect your beatification?

Secondly: Telling someone what they can and can't support under a religion is a little outrageous don't you think? You would really stand here and tell me you wouldn't accept 46% of this country's Catholics as Catholics. You mean to tell me you support 100% every teaching of the Catholic church and the church is infallible? This must mean you are a supporter of the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades, correct?

Thirdly: I already mentioned serving on the same board and Obama "launching" his political career in Ayers house. Obama would never have been a politician had it been for Ayers house I guess I am to understand here. Sharing the same friends is quite a bold claim to make. Do you know all of their mutual friends, do you have sources other than vague references to "earlier" posts of yours? Have you kept tallies of all Obama's babysitters over the years, do you have sources on that one? As far as living in the same neighborhood, I live in the same neighborhood as a pedophile, does that make me a pedophile?

You say having "one" link to Ayers is bad enough but what about John McCain's link to Charles Keating, or the circumstances surrounding the end of his first marriage. Please try so show a little less bias here. You have a strong academia background correct? What happened to looking at both sides of the issue objectively?

Your passion and commitment to your point of view are admirable.
I commend you for your involvement and interest. It's healthy and good for out country. It gives me faith in the future.
Now, I can only ask that you go back and look at my 14 posts on abortion and my 32 posts on Ayers. It's all there, Ryan.
All the info. you're requesting is there with the sources.
You don't have to agree with it but it's there.
On abortion: The Church views abortion as an issue that is seperate and distinct. The Church teaches that regarding a law permitting abortion it is "never licit to obey it, or to vote for it or to take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law." The Church teaches that "no law may permit taking the life of an unborn child." The Church teaches that abortion is a grave sin.
This is the unchangeable teaching of the Church on an issue that the Church holds above others because this issue involves life itself -- the formation of life in the womb.
With all due respect, those who disagree with this ruling and who cannot come to terms with it should leave the Church for they are at odds with the Church on a paramount moral issue - a fundamental tenet of the Church.
When asked if he would rather have a smaller and more faithful Church Pope John Paul II essentially said "yes." But in any event, the Church does NOT base its fundamental teachings on majority rule.
As for Ayers, it's not just Ayers. Again, go back and review. There's a whole pattern of consorting with and cozying up to radicals and unsavory characters: Rezko, Kallidi, Pfleger, Ayers, Dohrn, Wright and others. This reflects (at the very least) bad judgement on the part of Obama. The scent is not fragrant, Ryan.
Finally, I welcome and am respectful of ALL points of view and try to be attentive to ALL views both here and elsewhere. I welcome anonymous postings as well (something which many blogs and sites do not permit). I try to encourage a forum. And I admire young people who take a stand and fight for what they believe in regardless of whether or not I agree with the stand they take.
That's one of the reasons why I've taken so much time with you, Ryan.
Stay involved and be well!
