James Taranto has a fantastic column in the Wall Street Journal about how Barack Obama squandered a significant mandate and a huge opportunity. here's part of what he says:
Not only has Obama failed to get the jobs back, he blew more than $800 billion of taxpayer money in the process, and forced through what promises to be a ruinous health-care law while he was at it. It's true that fear is driving voters away from Obama and his party. But it's entirely rational to fear people who, armed with the power of the state, cannot be dissuaded from doing terribly destructive things because they are absolutely confident that they have "facts and science and argument" on their side.
