Nine Days For Life: YOU Can Make A Difference!

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. Encourages the faithful throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to join in solidarity with Catholics from throughout the country by participating in the “9 Days for Life” initiative sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Centered on prayer, it calls for an end to abortion and renewed respect for the dignity of all human life.

On January 22, 2020, our nation marks the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the United States Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the country. Since that time, millions of children’s lives have been lost to abortion. Our prayers and sacrifices make a difference in the face of the culture of death and place emphasis on our real hope for a culture of life.

The centerpiece of this nationwide prayer effort is a novena with intercessions, brief reflections, and suggested acts of reparation that can be received directly each day through a variety of electronic forms. The “9 Days for Life” provides many ways for people of all ages and circumstances to participate. The novena of prayer also spans the March for Life and is a way to participate spiritually with the thousands pilgrims from the Archdiocese who will travel to Washington, DC, on January 24, 2020.

Information regarding “9 Days for Life” is posted on the USCCB website at www.9daysforlife.com. On this site you will find the prayers, programmatic and promotional resources to encourage this nationwide prayer effort. You can also follow along with activities across the country on social media using the hashtag #9DaysforLife. Participants can choose to receive the novena via email, text message, a printable version, or through a free "9 Days for Life" mobile app (with customizable reminders) in English or Spanish.
