Call On NJ Senate President To Act On Reform

New Jersey State Senator Kevin O’Toole, the Senate Minority Whip, called today on Senate President Steve Sweeney to post S-359 for a Senate Vote on Tuesday, January 25. The bill would extend veto power over the minutes of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission and the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission to Governor Christie. The bill is currently on second reading in the Senate.
“This issue is simply too important to neglect any longer,” O’Toole began. “The legislation that I am asking the Senate President to post for a vote before the full Senate on Tuesday is a bipartisan measure sponsored by Senator Weinberg and me and 12 of our colleagues from both sides of the aisle.
“In order to get this appalling situation with the semi-autonomous authorities under control the governor of this state needs the ability to stop the egregious behavior that has become all-too-common at authorities across the state. I urge all of my colleagues, in both houses, to support the immediate passage of this important initiative.”
