To Inspire, Uplift And Renew Your Spirit!

Concerts at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is proud to present an exciting season of concerts highlighting Philadelphia’s rich choral tradition alongside inspiring ensembles from around the world at the historic Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

November 5, 2016
7:30 p.m.
Westminster Williamson Voices: Pärt the Mystic
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul
18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Philadelphia, PA 19103

Conductor James Jordan and the Westminster Williamson Voices continue a close relationship with Concerts at the Cathedral Basilica as they return with a stunning work by renowned Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The composer was captivated and inspired by the text of an early Orthodox hymn, the Canon of Repentance to Our Lord Jesus Christ, and the creative process for this evening-length work spanned two years of the composer’s life.

According to Pärt, “The ‘time we spent together’ was extremely enriching. That may explain why this music means so much to me.” The evening offers an immersive exploration of the singular voice of this pre-eminent contemporary choral composer, led by one of the most prominent and published authorities in the current choral field.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting cathedralphilaconcerts.org.
