Free Public Skating On Flyers Ice Saturday

To celebrate the start of the 2013-14 National Hockey League season, Comcast-Spectacor is offering Philadelphia Flyers fans two hours of free public skating on Saturday, September 28 from 12:30 p.m. through 2:30 p.m. at all Flyers Skate Zone locations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

In addition to owning the Flyers, Comcast-Spectacor operates four Flyers Skate Zone locations:

Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone, 601 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees, N.J. 08043

Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone, 6725 River Road, Pennsauken, N.J. 08110

Flyers Skate Zone, 501 North Albany Avenue, Atlantic City, N.J. 08401

Cavity Busters Flyers Skate Zone of Northeast Philadelphia, 10990 Decatur Road, Philadelphia, P.A. 19154

Fans dressed in their favorite Flyers orange and black skate for free. For fans looking to purchase new Flyers merchandise, Gear Zone is offering fans a 10% savings on all apparel, accessories and equipment purchases for a special one day sale. Skate rentals are available for just $3 per person. Parking is free.

Children are invited to participate in a Flyers “Hooked on Hockey” clinic and take a shot on goal on the Flyers inflatable in the parking lot at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, in addition to the free public skate, presented by South Jersey Radiology. Flyers alumni Bob “The Hound” Kelly and Todd Fedoruk will host the clinic and teach participants hockey drills including stick handling, passing and shooting while learning that they can have fun as they stay active.

The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees will also host the annual Pro Stock Equipment Sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fans and hockey enthusiasts will have the unique opportunity to purchase Philadelphia Flyers game-used equipment ranging from helmets, to skates, to sticks, to pads and much more. The 10% Gear Zone discount will not apply to the Pro Stock sale.

The Flyers open the 2013-14 National Hockey League season at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m., presented by KIA Motors. Tickets are on sale now by calling 800-298-4200 or visiting PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.

About Dan Cirucci

He received his MA degree from Rowan University and his BA from Villanova University. He has been named a Distinguished Alumnus of Rowan's public relations program and received the E. A. "Wally" Richter Leadership Award, the highest honor from the National Association of Bar Executives' Communications Section. He has also been honored by numerous other local, state and national groups.

In his hometown of Camden, Cirucci taught fifth grade at the Ulysses Wiggins Elementary School named for the founder of the Camden NAACP. There he was one of the first teachers in the country to teach African-American history to inner city students. He later served as editor of a local weekly newspaper, as Assistant to the Township Manager of Cherry Hill Township and as Associate Director of Communications at the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Cirucci's passions include politics, the popular culture, books and authors, art, communication, music, theatre, movies, dining and travel.
