The Truth Is, People Aren't Troubled By It

Voters don’t care too much for the federal government, and the number who say they have been badly hurt by the continuing government shutdown remains small.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 10% of Likely U.S. Voters say they have been personally affected by the shutdown in a major way. Another 35% say that in terms of their own personal life, they have felt a minor impact, while 54% say the shutdown has had no impact at all on them. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on January 14-15, 2019 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
